…And it’s only just the beginning.

Hey hey NG’s!

I hope everyone has had a more pleasant January; despite current world and political events. I know how the haze of bad news, and mentally intrusive media can be exhausting to have to endure and sit through at times. Which is why this year for me is going to take a very different, and drastic turn.

First and foremost; as you may or may not have gathered by now. My podcast series The Doctor’s Notes Podcast , has taken a completely different theme altogether. What once was a place for me to yell into the void about anything and everything internet culture; has now become a vessel for my storytelling and voice acting work. The recent episode is only just a taste of whats to come later. And the incoming fifth season this year will be filled with nothing but exciting and new content for all!

As I stated before; this is not a permanent change to the format of this podcast. But rather; it will just be the main focus of the podcast going forward.

A Year of Giving Back.

Now then; you may of noticed that some music has been coming out recently. More specifically the gifts I made for a friend of mine; UncleAliVA! You may know this fellow as the voice actor that featured notably in BillieBustUp, and No Straight Roads.

His reaction to my first gift, Uncle’s Room Concerto, was enough for me to begin this journey. Ever since that day; I have now made it a tradition to keep making him songs for both his use on Twitch. And his own personal collection of copyright free music that is both enjoyable; and thoughtfully handcrafted. Once a month, I will make a new gift track for him to add to his collection. As both a token of friendship, and gratitude towards another indie VA talent.

Please Note: They will not be available for DL off of Newgrounds. Or be playable in Geometry Dash. These are custom made gifts that are made off-commission, and out of respect for both of the receiver and the producer, they will remain on Newgrounds exclusively for your own listening entertainment!

Now that we have hit the third milestone with Ali’s tracks; it is now appropriate to finally open a designated album for him right here on Newgrounds forever. After much thought and consideration to what it must be called; I have decided on The Tavern Tapes. Do keep your eyes peeled, as this playlist will be updated monthly. For now; check out the first three that are up!

Alright; alright! I got a Twitch.

Yep, that’s right. I actually did it. I did the gamer move and got a Twitch. There will be updates to follow regarding what is going to happen on my Twitch channel, and when the madness begins! I cordially invite you all to join me, and possibly other pals in the future, on this new journey. I plan to start streaming by July 2025 the earliest. Until then; watch this space and my Bluesky for further updates! All links are on my page!

Concerning Commission Changes.

Yes yes; they’re coming back. I have opened three preorder slots as of 29/01. And commissions will be officially open on 10/02 at midnight. (Europe time.) There have been some small but important changes to license information, album/mixtape orders, and pricing is due to increase slightly by the second quarter of 2025.

”But GBM! Why are you increasing the prices? Keep them as they are!”

Sadly, my current rates just won't cut it any more. I have always made it a promise to all prospecting customers and clients; to keep my prices affordable and make my custom music accessible to all. But with the current state of the climate revolving around financial issues for indie artists, my increasingly worrying physical health due to years of chronic illness, and the ever increasing demand for new software and hardware in order to make these tracks happen — My current prices just will not do realistically. I need to be able to afford medication, food, and just in general make a decent living.

With that being said; don’t panic. They will not increase too high. I have standards just as much as you do. And I am not a scrooge. (Sorry, Michael Caine.) But they will increase enough to where it is both fair for you, and for me. I promise; it is worth the extra change to chuck. It supports me both as a regular old sod on the internet; and also contributes towards evolving my work.

New Project; Familiar Faces.

Finally; on to some less serious but super mega awesome news! I have recently been hired as the composer for my dear friend Cosmica’s “Lover’s Fable”. A Cult of the Lamb fancomic and AU. Do check out the Carrd for more information, and to get to know the rest of the team! This not only further broadens my horizons in my work; but also gives me the chance to indulge in a really fantastic passion project put together by fantastic people. Lamb enjoyers; rejoice!

Some Final Tidbits & 30 years of NG’s…

Pheeeew! That was a huge update. But so much has happened since the last journal; that it has been pretty difficult to keep up with writing it all down in time! But we’re here; and that’s all that matters. The first month of the year has been both a healing, and reassuring one to say the least. After losing four friends to death last year, almost losing myself to grief and battling my illness flares, and going through the roughest and toughest year I have had in a long time? I feel like I truly deserve this reprieve. And I hope that continues for the rest of this year.

Also, @TomFulp . Please refill the cashews. These have been here since 2003! I am pretty sure you can culture a whole new game out of the organisms that I am sharing space with inside of your cashew stash.

I jest! I appreciate you for giving me a place to call my second home, my vessel for creativity, and my safe space. Here is to another 30 years of Newgrounds! To think that it all began with you as a 13 year old with a dream… With a zine in 1991 simply called New Ground; to becoming a fully established and highly respected part of internet creative culture in 2025 as Newgrounds. This milestone is well deserved for both you, and your whole team of super cool staff who keep the vitals of this site pumping. What is your dream; has now enriched and empowered the dreams of millions of others here on this site. That includes little ol’ me!

They always say never to have idols. But if I was to pick one; it would be Tom. Thank you for everything. And for as long as you tolerate my presence, I will always be a part of this grand place, and contribute towards its never ending archive of millions of dreams that have come true. Hoping that someday, somewhere; someone will come across them. And begin their own adventure here.

With a documentary on the horizon. And so many new faces that have blessed this platform with their artistry; we are sure to see Newgrounds well into the next decade— or hopefully century!
